Dakota Overland is a Minnesota native who enjoys participating in hunting and the shooting sports. She attends Lakes International Language Academy (LILA), an immersion school in Forest Lake, MN where she has studied Spanish since she was 5.
Dakota’s family are active members at the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club (FLSC) where she regularly participates in United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) pistol matches, 3-Gun matches hosted by the MN 3Gun Group, and her High School Clay Target Trap team through the MN State Clay Target League.
She has enjoyed hunting with her dad, Todd Overland, since she was very young. Using her shotgun and deer rifle she has hunted pheasants, ducks, geese, grouse, turkey, and deer. Her other interests include horseback riding and SCUBA diving; she became a certified SCUBA diver at the age of 10.
Dakota began competing in tactical shotgun, USPSA pistol, and 3-Gun matches in July 2015. After attending the Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun match at the FLSC, both Dakota and her dad, Todd, knew immediately after seeing the match that they wanted to participate in the sport.
Additionally, in the fall of 2015 Dakota began participating in the MN High School Clay Target League shooting trap. Through the MN winter, she also maintains her shotgun skills participating in the heated 5-stand league at the FLSC. She is a certified Range Officer through USPSA.
Recently Dakota had the privilege to be included as one of fifty women from the fifty states participating in the DC Project with an objective of building relationships with our legislators and providing a face for true gun owners and 2nd amendment supporters.
