Burris Scopes

Burris 4-16x50mm Eliminator III

General | From the Manufacturer

The Burris Eliminator III line with its integral range-finder is a very bold innovation in scope, and we're glad to see they pulled it off. After testing these scopes, we are quite frankly amazed at the performance. Depending on the atmospherics, we achieved spot-on ranges for targets at 800 to 1000 yards, and ranging with the scope on the rifle offers so much more precision than trying to range with a typical hand-held range finder that there is really no comparison. Just aim at the target and press the button. If you've ever tried to hold a range finder on a one to three MOA target at 800 to 1000+ yards, you understand what a boon this is. There is so much body signature on a standard range finder that it can be impossible to get a meaningful result.

For long-range precision matches that allow range finders, this scope is simply invaluable. Even if you find yourself at a match with rules that preclude the use of the range finder, the Eliminator III should still be allowed with the battery removed, in which case it could be used as a ranging and ballistic-reticle optic similar to the Horus Vision system.

The glass on the Eliminator III is excellent, and once you have the ballistic program proofed for your load, the solution resolves dead-on. The LED is sub-MOA, so it does not occlude typical precision targets and is adjustable for intensity. With the 10 MPH wind value displayed in the upper right corner of the screen and the Mrad grid, extrapolating wind off the center line is quite fast. As an added bonus, the size of these scopes belie their light weight. This is most true for the 4-16, which really isn't the club that it appears to be, while the 3-12 is quite a bit more compact and not much bigger than other scopes in that magnification range.

The Eliminator III offers tremendous value for the dollar, and for real world applications or long-range precision, they're the ticket.
