The definitive modular hand guard, the JP MK III System has been over twenty years in the making, combining the advancements of every hand guard we've ever developed. With a new enhanced attachment method that combines aesthetic polish and durability, this system accommodates both the stylish, rock-blasted JP Signature tube and the Rapid Configuration tube with its faster rail relocation and new textured finish. Like its predecessors, MK III allows for easy rail mounting at any of the cardinal points along the tube as well as at the 45°s while also offering continued compatibility with all JP Tactical Rail accessories.
Manufactured as ever to the uncompromising JP standard, the MK III system is the final word on modular design fusing simplicity and utility with the benefits of both:

The AR business looks much different now than it did twenty years ago when the original JP hand guards were making the scene, and people can be forgiven for not realizing now that the concept of the modular hand guard actually originated with those first JP designs. With each of our designs, we've stood by the philosophy of "rails where you want them, not where you don't," and only now is the broader AR market starting to catch up to the idea that shooters work best with selective accessory placement to suit their individual needs instead of a one-size-fits-all forend with lots of unnecessary and bulky rail that's not being used. It's a simple idea we pioneered with our first hand guards back in the 90s when high-end ARs seemed like nothing but a passing fad, and by all the imitators on the market now, we've proven the concept's worth.
With the introduction of the MK III system, we've incorporated the best of all our hand guard concepts to date because our philosophy has always been the no product is ever "finished" but merely a step towards something newer and better. Pooling the strengths of the Gen. 2 modular and more recent Rapid Configuration system in particular, the MK III combines the ever popular aesthetics of the tapered nut and beveled, fluted tubes with the patented attachment method of the RC system.
This patented receiver attachment method is especially quick to install or strip for easy barrel replacement with an internal barrel nut that is a lifetime part that will not distort like other one-piece aluminum retention nuts that sometimes can't even be used more than once. This accommodates unlimited rapid change-out of barrels as needed.
This attachment method also eliminates the six attachment screws of the previous generation to increase the structural integrity and perfection of alignment to bore axis of the attachment system to ensure that any accessory devices can be easily sighted to point-of-impact. The precision of the system rises to a level comparable to monolithic one-piece systems. In fact, the JP top rail system is the only system other than true monolithic upper assemblies that offers rail continuity, meaning that the optional top rails pieces adjust to the upper receiver for rail slot timing as if they were one continuous piece of 1913 rail. This makes possible to bridge the receiver and hand guard system with any optical mounting solution if so desired.
As with our its predecessors, the MK III system also supports several other platforms outside the typical AR-15 specification range such as Armalite, Knights and DPMS clones, making it the most versatile, all-encompassing system currently on the market. These large-platform versions (7.62/308) have a unique eccentric barrel nut design that allows for the smaller 2" diameter tube to clear the gas system on the large-format rifles, yielding a much more ergonomic, lighter-weight system on the 7.62 platforms. We've seen many shooters pick up our LRP-07 rifles and simply assume they're holding a 5.56 until they look at the magazine and ejection port.
Finally, the MK III system unifies its predecessors by accepting both the fluted JP Signature and the newer Rapid Configuration tubes to accommodate those preferring the iconic style of our classic design with those who've come to appreciate the elimination of backer plates on the rail attach points. In either case, reconfiguring the accessory systems takes only minutes and requires only basic tools. What's more, unlike the competitor systems such as the Keymod, the MK III requires no proprietary hardware—just standard 10-32 screws available at any hardware store. With the compliment of accessories rails and mounting solutions that we currently offer, any sensible configuration in either tube design is possible.
The original and still never outdone, the JP MK III Hand Guard System is the latest and greatest example of a product system designed by professionals for professionals.
