Ethan was intrigued by guns at a very early age. As soon as he could, he eagerly worked around the house, cut his neighbors’ grass and worked in his dad's business to earn enough money to buy his own shotgun and deer rifle. From this point, he took charge of his involvement in shooting.
“I think that I am a very responsible, independent, athletic, and humorous young man,” says Ethan. As much as he enjoys shooting, he’s always careful to remember the most important thing about firearms: safety. He’s proud to say that not only does he have respect for firearms, but also a growing interest and understanding of how they operate.
After seeing other junior shooters competing in a local 3-Gun competition, Ethan knew he wanted to give it a try himself. After shooting just one match, he was hooked and now competes regularly in local and national matches.
During his first year competing, Ethan was lucky enough to squad with several great shooters who helped him improve his shooting dramatically. He’s especially grateful to Jomar Villamor, Chris Cazin, Jay Schmitt, Brian Payne, Jake Latola, Jarrett Hall and Josh & Matt Loganbill. They guys have been great role models and very helpful to junior shooters. With this example, Ethan feels a responsibility to be a positive influence on other juniors looking to get into shooting sports.
Beyond 3-Gun, Ethan has participated in the NASP archery program and twice attended the Nation Archery Tournament in Louisville, KY. When he enters high school, he also plans to join the school trap team.
Ethan lives in Missouri with his parents and three siblings where he attends St. Thomas the Apostle School. On the weekends, he likes to play soccer and baseball, spend time with friends and family, help on the farm raising cattle, hunt, fish, ride ATVs and explore the creek and woods near his house.
“I’ve always considered rifle my strong suit,” Ethan says, “but I feel like shooting a JP Enterprises rifle has really made my rifle shooting skills stand out.”
