EOtech Reticle

EOTech builds arguably the most robust and well thought out dot sight for primary sight usage. In other words, if you really want to use a dot sight as a primary sight on a rifle, I’d suggest an EOTech over all others. If you watch the news, you probably realize that the EOTech is probably one of the most popular optics seen on law enforcement and military M-4 carbine applications. There are good reasons for this. If your rifle is to be primarily used for CQB or close range moving target applications, you should probably select some kind of dot sight. However, most dot sights are what I would consider better suited for pistol applications due to larger dot size, limited control over dot intensity and non-precise adjustments. The EOTech, on the other hand, can handle the rifle application better than others for several reasons.

It has a one minute of angle fine dot.
It has almost infinite fine control of dot intensity.
It has precise elevation and windage adjustment capability.

There are other features and qualities that enter into a scope purchase, but these are the essentials. We do not charge to install any optics on a rifle you order If you have something special in mind, we can probably get it for you and set it up with the appropriate mounting for your rifle at a very competitive price.

These three qualities make the EOTech ideal for a primary sight on a carbine intended for short range use but still allow for significant precision at medium range if necessary. The one minute dot is still only three inches at 300 yards, well inside most small targets. The ability to adjust the dot intensity down to the “translucent” range allows you to “see through” the dot and not loose the target. More precise windage and elevation adjustments allow you to dial in a true “rifle difficult on most “dot” sights intended primarily for pistol or shotgun applications at 50 yards. As a fringe benefit, the 512 and 552 series take standard AA batteries and have an extremely long run time.

However, the EOTech happens to be rather bulky and heavy. There’s a flip side to every coin and this is it for the EOTech. The bulk and weight really preclude this sight for use on pistol applications or as a secondary sight system. The JPoint® is the far better choice for those applications. Always remember that your choice of optics and many other accessories must be application driven.
